Appleby Blue – Sharing Session

Back in Spring we visited the Appleby Blue Almshouse, a beautiful development in Bermondsey.

The development was brought to our attention given the parallels in our thinking, particularly the idea of permeable buildings that are open to both residents and the wider community, and the use of productive rooftop spaces. It was a chance to see these concepts in practice and hear honest reflections on what works and what doesn’t, both in terms of design and management.

We left inspired, motivated and full of ideas and practical insights. It was therefore no surprise that Appleby Blue recently won the Stirling Prize 2025.
